The Fire Investigator Technician is responsible for assisting Donan Fire Investigators with studying fire and explosion scenes during an origin of cause investigation. They will be in the presence of Donan Fire Investigators at all times and will assist with the processing fire scenes, collection of evidence, and operating Donan vehicles. They will be exposed to seasoned fire investigators as they work, providing invaluable experience for anyone interested in becoming a fire investigator. The Fire Investigation Technician will report directly to the Regional Fire Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Will assist the Fire Investigator with travel demands for investigations which will include driving to and from sites as needed.
Will assist with the physical demands of fire investigation scenes as needed by Fire Investigator.
Must be consistently punctual to scheduled site visits with the assigned Donan Fire Investigator(s).
Maintain professional and comfortable rapport with close client interaction, often dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
Must be willing to work a flexible schedule during periods of peak business demand.
Will provide excellent customer service to both the companyâ™s internal and external customers.
Other duties as assigned by management on an as needed basis.
An interest in fire investigation or firsthand experience in fire investigation is highly preferred.
A minimum of two years of fire-related experience or relevant education, combinations of both will be considered.
Must be hands on and able to climb ladders, roofs, crawl in tight spaces, etc. on an as needed basis.
Meet all standards for pre-employment physical examinations.
Must be team oriented and enjoy service oriented type work.
Must have a valid driverâ™s license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with the firmâ™s guidelines.
Must have the ability to utilize extreme discretion with sensitive and confidential information.
Must have superior customer service skills.
Must conduct business in an honest and ethical fashion at all times.
Must have the ability to work efficiently with little or no supervision.
Must be willing to travel and/or work a flexible schedule during periods of peak demand. Some overnight travel will be required on an as needed basis.
Must be willing to work from a remote office setting while traveling from project site to project site.
Must be familiar with, or be able to become familiar with, NFPA 921, ASTM 1188, ASTM 1492, ASTM E860, and ASTM E1459.
Frequently required to stand on oneâ™s feet for prolonged periods of time.
Frequently required to lift and/or move objects weighing 50-100 lbs.
Frequently required to climb onto first and second story roofs, ascend/descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, etc.
Frequently required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
Frequently required to drive a vehicle for extended periods of time.
Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
